LEAP is the name for our program at Lincoln Elementary, which serves students from 1st through 5th grade. OASES goes to LEAP Monday through Friday, and there up to 16 volunteer mentors per day. As a mentor, you will generally either:

  • support a classroom of ~20 students (of a single grade level) with an EBAYC staff member, OR

  • tutor students one-on-one, assisting them with their homework

A Typical Day at LEAP

  • 3:00* : Meet at the Downtown Berkeley BART Station

  • 3:15 – 3:45: Travel to School Site

  • 3:45 – 5:00: Homework Help (or Enrichment)

  • 5:00 – 5:15: Snack/Pick Up

  • 5:15 – 5:45: Head back to Berkeley

  • 6:00 (or earlier): Arrive back at Berkeley

*Berkeley Time — if you have a class that ends right at 3:00pm, please let us know and we will make the necessary accommodations.
