Units
OASES offers a field study unit under the Department of Education (ED). We recommend signing up to receive a unit if you are planning to pursue either an Education minor, or if you simply need an extra unit for your schedule.
If you do not fall into either of the two categories listed above, we generally don’t recommend signing up for the unit, as the requirements to receive the unit are somewhat more rigorous.
EDUCATION UNIT REQUIREMENTS
In order to receive the Education field study unit, it is required that you either:
complete 35 hours of field work AND an end-of-semester written reflection, OR
complete 45 hours of field work
Each normal tutorial day counts for 3.5 hours of field work, so in order to fulfill the 45 hour requirement, you will have to complete some extra hours sometime throughout the semester.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES FOR HOURS
Every semester, OASES hosts an event for our students that we call Elementary Event. As a unit taker, attendance and participation in this event will count for 5.5 hours. To learn more, ask your coordinator or click here.
In the past, EBAYC has also hosted events throughout the semester that would count for hours. While there are no guarantees that any will occur this semester, be sure to read your weekly email in full or ask your coordinator so that you don’t miss out on any of these!
